There are a lot of benefits to being a part of a photo tour. The guides take you to the best locations in the best light, and help walk you through both the photo-making and travel experience. But, being guided around a country like Portugal isn’t for everyone. Some people want more freedom to explore on their own. They want more time, they want to be able to make their own decisions on photo locations day to day.
For the much more independent at heart, we offer self-guided photography trips in Portugal.
What’s a Self-Guided Photo Tour?
Essentially, we do all the planning and booking for you. We leave you with a suggested itinerary, a digital guidebook for your trip, and let you do the exploring on your own.
When you book a self-guided tour, you’ll have a Skype call with one of our team. There you’ll discuss your interests, potential destinations in Portugal, budget, etc. Then taking into account your personal desires our team will build you a proposed itinerary. Generally that itinerary includes booking all your accommodation, transportation, (etc.) so that when you arrive in Portugal you can focus on exploring and taking beautiful photos.
What Does a Self-Guided Tour Look Like
First off, the beauty of the self-guided trips is that the days can look exactly what you want them to look like. If you want to have an intensive photo tour where you’re out with your camera constantly, we can do that. And, if you want a much more relaxed trip where you meld photography and a holiday, we can do that too.
No two trips will look the same. They are personalized exactly for you.
How Does it Work?
After we’ve built your trip and you’re fully paid, we’ll send you a package (either paper or digital) that includes your in depth itinerary. It will include vouchers for your hotels, transport, and anything else you’ve booked.
So when you arrive, your first day might look like this:
- 10am – Arrive in Faro airport. Head to the rental car agency and pick up rental car.
- Drive to Lagos.
- 11am – Drive to Lagos (1hr).
- Check into Lagos Hotel.
- 1230pm – Have lunch at one of our recommended restaurants.
- 2pm – Join a local photography guide for a city photo walk.
- 5pm – Head to one of our photo locations on your own for sunset.
- 8pm – Have dinner at one of our recommended restaurants.
Why Not Just Go Totally Independently?
Well be honest with you, Portugal is the type of country that you can travel independently quite easily. The roads are good, it’s safe, the infrastructure is in good, and the people are friendly are helpful.
But the real advantage of going on one of our self-guided tours is our local expertise and support. Beyond the fact that we’ll be using our local knowledge and connections to ensure you get the best value for your money, we’ll be available any time on your trip to help you get through any situation that may arise. We’ve got your back in Portugal.
Of course, as much information as there might be out there on the internet for photo locations in Portugal, we’ve got much more detailed info. And, we’ll be able to provide you information that’s tailored specifically to your goals.
